Bernie Dancel's Beginnings

At the young age of 22, Bernie Dancel was forced to file for personal bankruptcy. He simply couldn’t make ends meet after the financial strain of a divorce, and was in debt. He received bad advice, which eventually caused him to declare bankruptcy, a decision that had a lasting emotional impact on his life. Bernie Dancel decided that he wanted to help others in the same situation, by offering them a better alternative to bankruptcy. He placed an ad offering debt help in the classified section of a local newspaper, and began taking phone calls from his kitchen table. Bernie Dancel would sit on the phone with people at all hours of the night, creating budgets with them, determining their debt situations, and discussing their options. He would then negotiate with their creditors to secure arrangements that would fit each customer’s unique budget. Bernie Dancel found his way out of debt and made it his life’s mission to help others in similar situations by creating CareOne Debt Relief Services.

Bernie Dancel has come a long way from answering phone calls from his kitchen table. Not only is he the CEO and Chairman of the Ascend One Corporation, but he also founded CareOne Debt Relief Services, one of the nation’s largest brands of debt relief services. Bernie Dancel wanted to find a way to help people manage their money and to teach them how to achieve financial stability. He is a leader in the debt relief industry, and has received numerous awards and accolades for both his philanthropic efforts and his innovative contributions to the debt relief industry.

Ascend One has also been the recipient of numerous industry awards, such as being named one of the Best Places to Work by Baltimore Magazine, and included in the “Hall of Fame Employers” by Baltimore Magazine in 2005, 2007, 2009-2010. The Baltimore Business Journal recognized Ascend One Corporation / CareOne Services, Inc. as the best place to work in 2010.
